Drag is an art form that is founded in the 2SLGBTQ+ community. It is a theatrical art form that embodies self-expression, joy, and acceptance. It is connected to politics, sexuality, gender, race, and religion. 

 

The Drag Academy is a project of The Concerned Kids. The Academy is designed to elevate Drag as an art form. Professional drag performers share their expertise in immersive classes. The classes are designed for those with zero experience with Drag to those who have been in the industry for years. The classes include all elements for performances from theatrical make-up, costume design, hair design to character development, comedy writing, stage presence, and improv.

 

The Project Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Faculty Development Coordinator, Student Experience Coordinator, and artist facilitators to plan and implement the summer and fall courses for the drag academy. 

 

The project coordinator will be responsible for:

 

  • Work with the Faculty Development Coordinator to develop and implement a 6-week curriculum on “Drag”;

  • Liaise with the artist facilitators to develop curriculum and ensuring they have all materials needed for their lectures;

  • Manage the virtual sessions at the academy;

  • Develop and implement a digital outreach strategy in collaboration with the marketing assistant;

  • Complete project evaluation;

  • Communicate learning and produce program reports highlighting outcomes;

  • Build relationships and liaise with community agencies serving 2SLGBTQ+ youth;

  • Develop strategic relationships with community partners;

  • Administrative duties;

  • Work collaboratively with TCK staff team;

  • Attend regular meetings;

  • Ensure program objectives are met in a manner consistent with the quality of service and care for which TCK is well known.

 

 

This position is funded through the Summer Student Program.  Applicants must be under 29 years old.  We encourage applicants for BIPOCQT communities to apply.
